Since February 2024, CSSP in partnership with the Centre of Integrated Legal Services and Practices (CILSP) and in association with the National Chamber of Mediators (NCM), and the Free Legal Aid Directory is implementing the project “Supporting citizens’ access to justice through mediation in Albania”. This project is funded by European Union. The project aims at contributing to improve the capacity building of mediators, supporting the NCM’s training efforts, to promote the use of mediation with different stakeholders and strengthening the capacities of free legal aid providers in referring cases to mediation

On September 11th, 2025, we organized in the Municipality of Përmet, in cooperation with the Free Legal Aid Office of this Municipality,
a seminar on the referral of cases to #mediation by #free #legal aid service providers.
This roundtable brought together various representatives at the local level and legal professionals with whom we had a concrete discussion on the cases that can be referred to mediation and the benefits that mediation brings not only in resolving the case for the parties involved but also in the dimension of social peace in the community.
The meeting was very useful in creating new synergies of cooperation between the Chamber of Mediators and Free Legal Aid providers in Përmet but also in Gjirokastër where the project has engaged a mediator in support of groups in need.

Another coordination meeting was held today in Korce, with business employees who informed about the advantages of mediation.
There was high interest among the participants regarding the concept of mediation and the areas of mediation application.
The project continues to inform stakeholders and community members about mediation and the criteria for accessing this service.
​These coordination meetings continue to be organized on monthly basis by the project staff with the aim of promoting mediation, but also consulting with stakeholders on the needs of different target groups in order to respond to them with relevant activities

On 7 July, 2025, National Chamber of Mediators organized an event for the National Day of Mediation.
This day highlights the vital role of mediation in fostering peace, understanding, and resolution within our society.
Mediation is not just a process; it's a pathway to harmonious living. It enables individuals and communities to communicate effectively, resolve disputes amicably, and strengthen our social fabric.
We were honored to have distinguished speakers at the event, who emphasized the potential of mediation and their commitment to support and promote mediation as a means of conflict resolution.
Their insights underscored how mediation serves as a fundamental tool in promoting justice, tolerance, and community cohesion.
By embracing mediation, we can build a more harmonious society where disputes are resolved through dialogue and understanding.

On Monday, June 23, 2025, we organized the seminar "Mediation in the context of administrative law" in cooperation with the Administrative Court of First Instance of Lushnje. This activity was special, as for the first time a concrete discussion took place on the possibilities of resolving administrative conflicts through mediation, as well as the cases that judges can refer to mediation, illustrated with the best practices of European Union countries and CEPEJ recommendations.
This innovative approach aims to streamline the mediation process, ensuring that individuals have access to alternative dispute resolution methods right from the court. By fostering this approach, we are committed to creating a more supportive and responsive legal environment.

​On 20 June, 2025, we had an enlightening workshop focused on promoting referral mechanisms for mediation, specifically tailored for vulnerable groups in our community in collaboration with free legal aid providers in Kukes district .
This session was a significant step forward in addressing local challenges and ensuring equitable access to justice in Kukes district.
Key Highlights:
-Understanding Local Context: Engaged discussions highlighted the unique challenges faced by vulnerable populations when seeking legal assistance in Kukes.
-Referral Mechanisms: Participants learned how effective mediation can provide a faster, less confrontational pathway to resolution, empowering individuals to resolve disputes amicably.
-Collaboration & Networking: This workshop fostered invaluable connections between legal aid providers, community organizations, and mediators enhancing the ability to advocate for those in need.

Today, on May 21st, 2025, during a coordination meeting, our project staff had a fruitful discussion with graduate students in Forensic Psychology about the importance of collaboration among psychologists, mediators, and other professionals in a multidisciplinary approach. We explored how these professions can work together to enhance outcomes in the mediation process.

On May 14th, we held a coordination meeting in Fushë Krujë with young people on the topic of "Restorative justice in conflicts between young people"
Through engaging conversations, we explored how this approach can foster understanding, healing, and positive resolutions. Everyone shared their insights and experiences, highlighting the importance of dialogue but also dilemas on values and principles . Together, we’re paving the way for a more supportive community!

Bashkëbisedimi me #studentët e Fakultetit Juridik të Universitetit "Luigj Gurakuqi“ Shkodër mbi ndërmjetësimin dhe përfitimet që ai ka në zgjidhjen e konflikteve jashtëgjyqësisht ishte shumë i frytshëm dhe shpresojmë që ata si juristë të ardhshëm do të vazhdojnë ta përçojnë këtë alternativë për një shoqëri më pak konfliktuale.
Kënaqësi ishte edhe diskutimi me #komunitetin në Lezhë për të prezantuar këtë alternativë dhe përfitimet që ajo ofron.

A coordination meeting iwas organized in Saranda with representatives of education system focused on promoting mediation among professionals. The project mediator presented the project activities and also advantages of mediation as an alternative way to solve conflicts.
This initiative aims to foster understanding and conflict resolution in our communities.

Today on 17 December we organized the last workshop for 2024 on the
“Referral Mechanism into Mediation” with lawyers. It was an interactive discussion in collaboration with dedicated lawyers from Durres community!
This workshop focused on establishing a robust referral mechanism into mediation, ensuring that those in need of assistance can access fair and
effective resolutions.
Together, we will strengthen networks between professionals to foster

On 11.12.2024 we had a Workshop on “Restorative Justice and referral mechanisms to Mediation” with Prosecutors. The discussions centered around how referral mechanisms can improve outcomes for young offenders and enhance the justice system's response to juvenile crime.

Ky aktivitet mblodhi në një tryezë pune përfaqësues të Institucioneve vendore që përballen çdo ditë me problematikat e qytetarëve. Prezantimi i kuadrit ligjor mbi ndërmjetësimin dhe përfitimet e tij ishte shumë interesant dhe ndezi diskutimin sesi mund ta sjellim këtë zgjidhje alternative të konflikteve sa më pranë publikut me qëllim rritjen e referimit të rasteve.

We were pleased to have the first meeting for this new season with brokers to share challenges and needs of brokers in order to provide a high quality and professional service.
The focus of the conversation was also designing some guides with different themes for brokers, in order to have ongoing support in practicing their profession. For comprehensive access, these materials will also be reproduced in video format and published on the official DHKN website.
